At LLBMD, we specialize in treating patients with pre-existing conditions. This is one of the MAJOR advantages of medically supervised weight loss and nutrition programs compared to impersonal online platforms. We have over 20 years of healthcare experience and our team has been actively working in healthcare providing care to complex patients.
Unfortunately, due to current Medicare rules and regulations, we can only provide obesity management to these patients. This is true regardless of an ability to pay in cash for services and prescriptions and regardless of any current supplemental plan. We hope to offer all services to patients enrolled in Medicare in the near future, so please continue to check back for any changes.
Absolutely. Patients can opt for in person or tele appointment based on the preference and the services required. Follow up appointment are completed through tele health and preferred as long as you have access to a scale at home. Urgent care visits can also be done in person or on tele health.
If medication is prescribed, the length of time used will be determined by ongoing conversations with your doctor. A rule of thumb is, if the medicine is working, you should continue using it. This is no different than taking a medication to treat elevated blood pressure or diabetes. However, at LLBMD, our goal is to assist you in creating the lifestyle changes that help you make long lasting changes and get you off medications in the near future.
NO, your medications are not covered by your visit fee. Any prescriptions written at LLBMD will be sent to your pharmacy where you will pick them up and pay any balance not covered by your insurance.
We work hard to make weight loss medications as affordable as possible for our patients, while still providing name-brand and FDA-approved medication options. We begin by running prescriptions through your insurance first to minimize out-of-pocket costs. For most patients, the available oral weight loss medications typically cost $25/month or less. If your insurance covers injectable weight loss medications, these costs will likely be similar.
We do not bill insurance directly through our office at this time. Other services such as lab, and therapy services can be processed through insurance, however at a licensed facility. Medications are generally processed through insurance at your local pharmacy as well. Patients can, and many do, use their Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to pay for weight loss services. We are also able to provide an invoice for patients to submit to their insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.
